Malian Women Have Health Risks From Skin Lighteners

I am responding to a post made by Cortney Golub. You can find it here.

Skin bleaching in Mali is a not safe for the women there. The advertisers of the creams and chemicals used for bleaching the skin of Malian women make the people very ebullient about using the chemicals. The chemicals are designed to make the skin of Malian women pallid, and often times these creams burn and cause health damage to the women. The women state that the reason for using these chemicals is to embellish themselves and make themselves salacious to the men. However, the men are sometimes not at all attracted to women who use the chemicals. Poor women are most affected because the cheapest chemicals are often those that are the least salubrious, although all of them cause cancer. The women that have the dowry of having the lightest skin are looked upon highly in society, and darker-skinned women are mesmeric about making their skin lighter. This is not a jovial subject and is not helped by the U.S's, Saudi Arabia's, Morocco's, and Nigeria's contributions to the problem by selling the women these products that lighten their skin.
